About our school trousers & shorts

Our school trousers and shorts are made from a tough polyester-viscose suiting fabric with double-stitched seams, reinforced pockets and deep hems that can be let down as your child grows. They come in the four colours that dominate school bottom wear in Kenya — grey, navy blue, khaki and black — and we deliver countrywide.

Our school trousers and shorts

  • School trousers — sizes 22 to 40, from KSh 600. Belt loops, permanent front crease, reinforced knees.
  • School shorts — sizes 26 to 36, from KSh 700. Flat front, two side pockets, belt loops.

Both are cut from the same fabric in the same colours, so school trousers and shorts can be mixed through the year.

Colours: grey, navy blue, khaki and black

Grey is the most common colour for school trousers and shorts in Kenya, used by many public primary and secondary schools. Navy blue is popular with private schools, khaki with schools in warmer counties and for some junior school uniforms, and black with many senior schools. Always follow your school's uniform list; if it specifies another shade, mention it in the order notes or WhatsApp us.

Built for active children

School trousers and shorts take the hardest wear of any uniform item: kneeling, running, sitting on rough benches and sliding on playgrounds. Ours are built to cope:

  • Durable suiting fabric that resists shine and fading.
  • Double-stitched seams that do not split.
  • Reinforced knees and pocket corners.
  • Secure button and zip, plus belt loops.
  • Deep hems to let down as children grow.

Trousers or shorts?

Many primary schools allow school shorts for younger boys and switch to trousers in upper primary or junior school. Schools in hot regions such as the Coast, Western and parts of Eastern Kenya often allow shorts all year. Senior schools usually require trousers. Check your school's rules, and remember that a mix of school trousers and shorts gives options for hot and cold days.

Sizing school trousers and shorts

School trousers come in sizes 22 to 40 and school shorts in sizes 26 to 36. If your child is between sizes, choose the larger size and use a belt — length can be adjusted, but trousers that are too short cannot. See the uniform size guide.

Caring for school trousers and shorts

Turn inside out to wash, use cool or warm water, avoid bleach, hang by the hem or waistband so creases stay sharp, and iron through a damp cloth to prevent shine.

Bulk orders for schools

We supply school trousers and shorts by the class, in your exact colour, packed by size. See our bulk school uniforms page.

Complete the uniform

Pair school trousers and shorts with our school shirts and school sweaters, plus school socks and school shoes.

School trousers and shorts across the seasons

Kenya's school year spans hot, wet and cold periods, and the right bottom wear changes with them. In the hot months, many schools allow younger pupils to wear shorts. During the long rains, darker colours such as navy and black hide mud splashes better, and quick-drying fabric matters. In the cold months of June to August, trousers keep legs warm, especially in highland areas. Having both school trousers and shorts in the cupboard lets your child dress for the weather while staying within the uniform rules.

Belts and accessories

Most school trousers and shorts have belt loops, and many schools require a plain black belt. A belt also helps when a child is between waist sizes. Pair bottoms with school socks and polished school shoes for a complete look.

Repairs that extend the life of school trousers and shorts

Fix small problems early: re-sew a loose button, close a small seam opening, and reinforce the inside of the knees with an iron-on patch if your child is very active. These five-minute repairs can add months of wear. When it is finally time to replace them, our size-by-size prices make it easy to budget for the next pair.

Finally, keep one spare pair at home for emergencies such as a torn seam on a school morning or a pair that did not dry overnight during the rains. A spare saves a stressful start to the day.
