Short sleeve and long sleeve school shirts

Colours: white, light blue and cream
White is the most common colour for shirts in Kenya, and light blue and cream are also widely used. Light blue and cream are popular with parents because they stay looking clean for longer between washes, while many schools specify white for senior classes or formal days. We stock all three. What makes good school shirts
School shirts are washed more often than anything else in the uniform. Pure cotton wrinkles, shrinks and turns grey; very cheap polyester feels hot and scratchy. Our shirts use an easy-care polyester-cotton blend that balances comfort and durability:
- Fused collars that stay firm, with or without a tie.
- Quick-drying fabric, ideal for boarding school.
- Easy-iron finish — hang to dry and they need little pressing.
- Reinforced chest pocket for pens.
- Strong, securely sewn buttons.
- Breathable for hot afternoons and warm counties.
How many school shirts do you need?
For day scholars, two or three shirts per child is usually enough, so there is always one clean. For boarding students, pack three to four school shirts per term. If your school requires both short and long sleeves, two of each is a sensible starting point.
Finding the right size
Our shirts are sized 22 to 40, with the size close to the chest measurement in inches. Measure around the chest under the arms. For long sleeve school shirts, also check that the cuffs reach the wrist; if your child is tall for their age, go up a size. See our uniform size guide for sizes by age.

Caring for school shirts
Wash whites separately, unbutton collars and cuffs before washing, hang on a hanger to dry and iron on a medium setting if needed. Treat collar marks with a little bar soap before the wash.

School shirts through the school years
In pre-primary and lower primary, most children wear short sleeves, often in light blue or cream, sometimes without a tie. In upper primary and junior school, many schools add a tie and some switch to white. In senior school, long sleeves and a tie are common, especially for formal days, prize-giving and inter-school events. Because school shirts are made in the same colours across all sizes, a family with children at different levels can buy everything in one order.
Fit changes over the years too. Younger children need room to move and a collar that is easy to button; teenagers need longer sleeves and a slightly longer body that stays tucked in.
