White, light blue or cream?

Follow your school's uniform list. White is the most common colour for a short sleeve school shirt in Kenya, and light blue and cream are also widely used — light blue and cream are popular because they stay looking clean for longer between washes. Building a school week of shirts

Think about your child's week rather than a single shirt. A day scholar who wears a shirt Monday to Friday needs at least two, ideally three, so one can be washed and dried while another is worn. If your school has a PE day where pupils come in a T-shirt, you may manage with two. For boarders, four is safer, because laundry days are fixed and shirts take longer to come back.

It also helps to think about the year. A short sleeve school shirt bought in January may be tight by September for a fast-growing child, so many parents buy the current size for daily wear and one shirt in the next size for the third term.
